Background
In January 2022, the state government of Karnataka India and Singapore firm LNG Alliance partnered to develop a floating LNG import terminal project at New Mangalore Port in Mangalore. The terminal will have a regasification capacity of 4 mtpa, which may be expanded to up to 8 mtpa in the future. LNG Alliance plans to invest US$290 million over the next three years to develop, construct, and operate a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). The facility could offer LNG fueling services to ships visiting the port and provide LNG to transportation and industrial operations.[1]
As of June 2024, there have been no development updates in over two years, and the project is presumed shelved.
