Background

Le Havre-Antifer LNG Terminal was a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Normandy, France. The project is owned by Gaz de Normandie, a subsidiary of Poweo (73%) and Groupe CIM (27%). It received approval from the French government in May 2009. The project would have cost around $1.2 billion.

In January 2011, after months of reports that Poweo was considering whether or not to pursue the project, Poweo failed to renew its reservation on the project site, effectively killing the project. Three months later, company officials said the project was "frozen for the time being."
