Background

The project appeared to be shelved, but in November 2021 the government of Russia has released a document with amendments to the order of the Government of the Russian Federation of June 9, 2017. This document listed two proposed projects: one for the 1100 MW unit, to be completed by 2020, and a combined cycle unit 230 MW to be completed in 2031-2035.[7]

The project is not in the scheme and program for the development of the Unified Energy System of Russia for 2022-2028.[8] As of December 2023, there have not been any updates about the project, and the project is considered to be shelved.
