Background on Project

In October 2014, PowerChina proposed a 2,000 MW power station in Lingtai County.[1]

There was no further news until January 2020, when Gansu province and the city of Pingliang signed an agreement with Shandong Energy Group on developing a 4 x 1,000 MW coal plant. The coal would be supplied by Shandong Energy subsidiary Shenglu Coal and Chemical, which has two coal mine projects under construction.[2]

Two units were reportedly permitted on December 1, 2021, and construction reportedly began in August 2022.[3][4]

In 2023, Unit 3 and Unit 4 were presumed to be shelved.
