Background

In June 2022, Williams reached FID on the project.[1][4][5]

Commercial service was expected by 2024.[6]

The pipeline is being billed as a clean energy project. According to Chad Zaramin, Senior Vice President for Williams' Corporate Strategic Development, "Williams is committed to incorporating emerging technologies to deliver the next generation of natural gas. With LEG, we are pleased to be able to offer an infrastructure solution that integrates real time emissions monitoring and emissions reduction strategies. LEG is also ideally positioned to incorporate carbon capture and storage as a further decarbonizing solution for natural gas production in the rapidly growing Haynesville basin."[6]

In August 2024, Williams got the green light to continue building its LEG project, "after a court threw out rival company, Energy Transfer's last bid to halt its construction."[2] The two companies had been in a dispute over the LEG project, which is now "expected to be in service by the second half of 2025."[2]
