Background
The plant is proposed to be located at Marakkanam town near Pondicherry in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, India.[1]
NTPC originally proposed that the Marakkanam Super Thermal Power Project be 4,000 MW, but the terms of reference permit was for a 2,000 MW power station.[2]
There has been no progress on the power station since receiving a terms of reference in 2010, and the project appears to be abandoned.
