Background
Mariveles LNG Terminal was a proposed LNG import terminal with a capacity of 2.17 mtpa in Bataan, Philippines by GNPower approximately in 2013.[3]
Samat LNG Corporation was founded in 2020 to develop, own and operate LNG import terminals primarily to industrial and commercial customers for power supply and transportation fuel.[1] The company received the Notice to Proceed (NTP) from the Philippine Department of Energy for the Mariveles LNG Terminal.[1]
In September 2023, Samat LNG signed a long-term land lease agreement with state-owned Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) for its facility at PNOC’s industrial park in Limay, Bataan.[4]
In January 2024, PNOC was considering an investment in the facility.[5]
