Background
This project is currently under construction.[8]
In 2017, General Electric won the project's engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement of US $390 million.[9]
In March 2019, Summit Meghnaghat II Power Company Limited (SMIIPCL), a subsidiary of Summit Group, and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) signed a 22-year power purchase agreement related to the plant.[9]
The plant is part of Bangladesh's goal of adding 40 GW of installed power capacity by 2030.[10]
