Background

Lafarge operates a limestone reserve for cement production that has caused egregious social and environmental implications among residents in Mfamosing. Investigative journalists say that residents are experiencing a resource curse where profits and products are sent outside as the community they operate in suffers[1]. Residents are often without power and live in unstable homes caused by the vibrations from mining[2].
