Background

The Michigan Data Center occupies a portion of a 617,000 square foot facility built in 1972 for manufacturing. Currently 30,000 square feet are used for data processing, primarily Bitcoin mining. Future expansion plans may include an additional 200,000 square feet.[1] In March 2022, BitNile announced plans to expand the power capacity from 29 MW to 300 MW, pending an agreement with a nuclear power plant.[2] This expansion would bring the total number of mining rigs to 90,000. BitNile has also explored off grid generation to extend its overall capacity beyond 300 MW.
