Background
The power station is located in Fukuoka, Kyushu Prefecture, Japan.[4] The plant is now fueled by wood and other solid biomass.[5]
In 2017, the Toshiba Corporation converted the Mikawa power station from a coal- to a biomass-fired power plant.[6] The power station was retrofitted with a carbon capture and storage system in 2020.[7] The carbon capture demonstration was conducted from November 2020 to March 2021.[8]
The power station is close to the Miike power station.
