Background

The single-unit 89.9-MW coal-fired Minusinskaya power station is owned by TGC-13, which in turn is owned by SUEK. The plant was brought online in 1997.[3][4]

The plant has 5 boilers and is fired by lignite coal from the Borodinsky coal mine.[4] The plant's capacity was increased by 5MW to 85MW in 2010 and later in 2021 to 89.8MW through recertification.[5][6]

The plant is the only supplier of heat to the city of Minusinsk.[4] In 2021, Minusinskaya power plant generated 432 million kWh of electricity, in 2020 it was 464 million kWh.[7]

In June 2022, an overhaul of the turbine was in progress and was completed in line with the schedule.[8][6][5]

A possibility to convert the plant to run on gas was mentioned in a media source in 2024, although the practical implementation was said to be debatable.[9]
