Monto coal mine

'Monto coal mine (stage 1) is a project proposed by Burnett Coal/Macarthur Coal/China Huaneng Group. The project is located 120 km south of Gladstone.

The project, which has been subject to a feasibility study, is proposed to produce 1.2 million tonnes of thermal coal a year and cost $35m to construct.

The company is also considering a (stage 2) of the project. The proposed expansion of the project has been the subject of a prefeasibility study completed. The project is proposed to produce 10 million tonnes of coal per annum.[1]
