Background
Mossel Bay FSRU was a project of PetroSA, the South African national oil & gas company, to build a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) terminal in Western Cape, with a capacity of 2 million metric tons per year (mtpa). The project was abandoned in 2014, after PetroSA found that the meteorological and oceanographic conditions in Mossel Bay didn't make sense for an LNG terminal.[1][2][3]
