Background

The project is sponsored by Luxor Energy.[1]

According to Luxor Energy, the plant will use a mixture of indigenous (70%) and imported (30%) coal. Indigenous coal will be sourced from Coal India; imported coal will be from South Africa, Indonesia, and Australia. Coal will be transported to the site by rail. Water will be sourced from the Krishna River at Almatty Dam. The project is more than a km south of Mulwad village, and the company states that there are "no Homestead oustees."[2]

The project received a terms of reference in 2011.[3]

Since then the project has not received environmental clearance, and appears to be abandoned.
