Background

The Murcki-Staszic power station was proposed by the state-owned mining company Katowicki Holding Węglowy (KHW) in 2013. KHW was reportedly considering either a 40–60 MW capacity power station or a 50 MW combined heat and power plant. The power station was to be located in the Boże Dary area, which was part of the Murcki-Staszic coal mine.[1][2][3]

In 2019, KHW merged with Spółka Restrukturownictwa Kopalń.[4] With no apparent updates on the power station since it was announced by KHW, it was presumed cancelled.
