Background
Nanchuan Heart River power station is a single unit coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 50 MW. The plant was completed in 1998. It is one of 9 power plants that AES Corporation participated to build in China in the 1990s. [1]
Since its operation, the power plant fell into heavy losses due to conflicts with the power distribution sector. In 2010, AES sold the power plant to Nanchuan Industrial Park. Later in 2012, it was rented to Chongqing Hongqingda Industrial (重庆鸿庆达产业有限公司) and became the company's captive power plant. [2]
In January 2019, the plant was retired.[3]
