Background
The power station is not to be confused with Nanhai Changhai power station B. 400 MW of the power station are gas-fired and 75 MW are coal-fired.[6]
Details of the power station's units are as follows:
- Unit 1: Coal-fired (unknown combustion technology), 50 MW (start-up in 1996, reportedly retired in 2021)[7]
- Unit 2: Coal-fired (unknown combustion technology), 75 MW (start-up in 2011)
- Unit GT2: Natural gas[8] combined cycle[9] with CHP[8], 100 MW[8] (start-up year not available)
- Unit GT1: Natural gas[8] combined cycle[9] with CHP[8], 100 MW[8] (start-up year not available)
- Unit GT3: Natural gas[8] combined cycle[9] with CHP[8], 100 MW[8] (start-up year 2022)[10]
- Unit GT4: Natural gas[11] combined cycle[11] with CHP[11], 100MW[11] (start-up year 2022)[11]
Unit GT3 and Unit GT4 were approved by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission in December 2017.[12] They commenced operations on May 27, 2022.[13]
