Background
Nanpu Quanzhou power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,940 MW in Fujian Province. The first two units, totaling 600 MW, were completed between 2005 and 2006. Units 3 and 4, totaling 1,340 MW, were completed in 2011 &2012, but did not receive permit from NDRC until 2014.[4][5] The plant was originally owned by China Guodian.[6]
In March 2023, a 2 x 660 MW Phase III was announced at Nanpu Quanzhou power station.[7]
In December 2023, Environmental Impact Assessment procedures for Phase III were underway.[8]
Ownership
On August 28, 2017, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) announced that China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group will be jointly restructured. Shenhua Group will become China National Energy Investment Group and will absorb China Guodian Corporation. It will be the largest power company in the world by installed capacity, as well as the world's largest coal producer.[9][10] The merger was completed on November 28, 2017.[11]
