Background

This power station provides combined heat and power to Lukoil's petrochemical refining facility in Burgas, Hungary.[5] Lukoil announced plans in 2021 to refurbish its Neftochim refinery thermal power plant by 2024. They planned to purchase new turbines in 2021, but plans appear to have not progressed as of June 2022.[6][7]

In August 2021, the refinery called for a tender for a hydrogen production feasibility study.[8]
