New Brighton Collieries Ohai coal prospect is an exploration licence held by New Brighton Collieries near Ohai on the South Island of New Zealand.
Approximate area only
The company states that the 658 hectare Exploration Permit 40-625 expires on September 2013.
The exploration licence was formerly held by a subsidiary of the L&M Group, though the licence remains listed on the L&M group's out of date website. The New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals registry states that the licence was transferred on May 11 2009 though the online register does not explicitly mention L&M.[1]
L&M stated on its website that the licence area has 39.5 million tonnes of sub-Bituminous coal. The company states that the prospect is located in western Southland and is located approximately 77 kilometres northwest of Invercargill.[2]
See "Permit 40625 Report" for a more detailed New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals map of the permit area.
