Background
In November 2024, the mayor of Ulaanbaatar stated that a new satellite city — New Century City (Шинэ Зуунмод хотын) — would be established on 31,500 hectares of land in the Sergelen and Altanbulag soums of Töv Province. A priority project for New Century City included a proposed combined heat and power plant producing 250 MW of electricity, built through a public-private partnership.[3][4]
As of December 2024, engineering works on city infrastructure had begun.[5]
