The Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group is a consortium of coal companies which built the NCIG export terminal in Newcastle to facilitate an expansion of coal exports from Newcastle. The first phase of the project, capable of exporting 30 million tonnes of coal a year, was commissioned in May 2010. On its website the company states that it has development approval for construction of a 66 million tonnes per annum terminal.[1]
