Background
In June 2023, Dachuan District government and SPIC Sichuan Electric Power Co., Ltd. held a symposium in Chengdu to discuss matters related to the establishment of the Northeast Sichuan High-efficiency and Clean Coal-Power Integration Project in Dachuan District. The project was included in the “Sichuan Provincial Power Grid Development Plan (2022-2025)” and the annual power generation capacity of the project was expected to be 8,000 GW after completion.[4]
Feasibility study report reviews and other discussions were held on May 28, 2023,[5] and on June 25, 2023.[6]
In early July 2023, it was reported that the proposed Northeast Sichuan power station would involve two project phases. The first phase would involve two 1,000 MW coal-fired power units.[7][8]
