Background

In August 2024, The Investor reported that the US's Excelerate Energy and Vietnam's ITECO JSC, a private industrial company, signed a term sheet to co-develop an LNG terminal in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The project will be built in two phases, with the first 0.7 mtpa phase planned to come online in 2027. The full capacity of the project will be 1.2 mtpa. The project was proposed as early as December 2021, when ITECO signed a share purchase agreement with JAPEX related to developing the facility.[1]
