Background

In 2015, the Ministry of Energy decided to close the mine. In 2016, the mine still appeared to be working as in January, two miners died as a result of a rock collapse at mine No. 1 Novovolynskaya.

The mine stopped producing in 2017 and flooding works started in 2019. In November 2023, a tender was announced for the remaining works of the liquidation of Novovolynskaya No.1. According to the tender, the main shaft, auxiliary, skip and wells should be liquidated and filled, fences should be built. Dismantling of technological equipment to be performed. Buildings and structures must also be dismantled. Carry out reclamation of rock dumps of mine No. 1 and industrial site, and green them.
