Background

The plant was originally established under the name "Cementownia Nowiny," serving as a state-owned enterprise during the communist era in Poland. In the early 1990s, following Poland's shift to a market economy, the plant underwent privatization. It was acquired by Dyckerhoff AG, a German cement company, which later became part of the Italian group Buzzi Unicem. Between 1997 and 2001, the Nowiny Cement Plant underwent a comprehensive modernization program with an investment of approximately €109 million. This initiative aimed to optimize operating and investment costs, enhance production efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. The plant has implemented systems to utilize alternative fuels in its production process, sourcing from facilities like the Mo-BRUK Group.
