Background
Tashir Group plans to construct a new thermal power plant in the Noyemberyan District of Armenia with an installed capacity of 126 MW and a cost exceeding $120 million. The project's primary objective is to satisfy Armenia's electricity demands while also facilitating electricity exports to other countries. As of February 2024, Tashir Group was awaiting approval of the Georgian government for connection to the electricity transmission project to European countries. This initiative encompasses laying an underwater electric cable along the depths of the Black Sea, facilitating electricity transfer from the South Caucasus region to Romania and subsequently to Hungary. Upon receiving governmental endorsement, formal agreements will be reached, paving the way for the commencement of the two-year construction phase for the power plant. The new thermal power plant is projected to generate an annual electricity output of 1 billion kWh.[3]
