Background

The Obourg cement plant has a planned capacity expansion to build a new 6000 tonnes per day, dry production clinker line as part of its plan to achieve net zero CO2 cement production under the GO4ZERO project. The line will be designed by Sinoma International Engineering. The new line is expected to become operational in 2026. The plant is also part of the Fluxys open-access CO2 transport network project, which will assist in transporting captured carbon from the newly constructed kiln line which will utilize the 'oxyfuel' process.
