Background
SPR Group states on its website that, in 2011, it signed a memorandum of understanding in Vibrant Gujarat for set-up of the 4 x 660MW thermal power project in the Okha Special Industrial Region. This project, it says, will be fueled entirely by imported coal through construction of a jetty at Okha Port. SPR also states that the plant will run off of desalinated sea water. The estimated project cost is Rs.16,000 Crores.
The SPR website, as of March 2012, states that the project is "now in initial stage and applied for various permissions and perusing with GoG [government of Gujarat] for acquiring land in Okha Special Industrial Region."[1] As of August 2012, the SPR language used the identical language, describing the project as "now in the initial stage and applied for various permitssions..."[2]
As of August 2014, Google searches for "SPR Infrastructure" and "SPR Group" do not reveal any active company in India. It appears that this project has been abandoned along with a second SPR Infrastrure project in Tamil Nadu, the Savarimangalam power station.
