Background

In September 2022, state-owned Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Co. announced that it was planning to build a US$500 million LNG import terminal. PSO is the nation's largest fuel importer and retailer, and the terminal would be part of a strategy to diversify its business. The import terminal will be located near Karachi. It will take four years to build, although its planned start date is unknown. It is not yet reported whether the terminal would be land-based or offshore, and what its capacity will be.[1]

As of June 2024, there were no new updates regarding this proposal.
