Background

There are two pipelines running along the same route mentioned in the media and government documents: Perm-Osa Oil Pipeline, built in 1967, and Osa-Perm Oil Pipeline, built in 1996. Based on research it is the same pipeline, which was, presumably, replaced in 1996.

The capacity expansion project was included into the Territorial Planning Scheme of the Russian Federation in the Field of Federal Transport (Pipeline Transport Section) released by the Government of Russia in May 2015 and revised in August 2024.
