Background

Initially, the pipeline built in 1993 connected Alveringen and Maldegem in Belgium, and was owned and operated by Fluxys.

GRTgas built the ‘Artère des Flandres’ pipeline (23 km) and the metering station at Hondschoote on the French-Belgian border in 2016, costing €56 million in total, and reconfigured the Pitgam interconnection station with a cost of €30 million. This connected Pitgam, France to Alveringem, Belgium through the border at Honschoote.[7]
