Background
The Port-la Nouvelle cement plant includes a crushed solid waste recovery (CSR) line to process solid waste for use as alternative fuel at the plant. The line was inaugurated in 2019 and expanded in 2021 to expand the amount of waste that can be processed. The CSR line can take in up to 80,000 tons of waste each year, with the goal of achieving a 90% alternative fuel substitution rate by 2022.
