Background

Dutch storage firm Vopak plans to build an LNG import terminal at Avalon in Port Phillip bay in Victoria using a 636-849 TJ/d floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

Vopak submitted an environmental plan to the Victorian government in December 2022, and was still awaiting approval as of May 2023.

As of May 2024, there were no additional updates related to this project.
