Puerto Rico-Virgin Islands Pipeline is a cancelled gas pipeline proposed to run between the USA territories of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Location

The pipeline would have run from the Puerto Rican island of Culebra to the Virgin Island of St. Thomas.

Background

The Puerto Rico–Virgin Islands pipeline was a proposed in 2008 as an offshore natural gas pipeline to connect Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. The pipeline would have started from the Puerto Rican natural gas grid on the island of Culebra and run to Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Gas would have been supplied from the EcoEléctrica's LNG regasification plant in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico to replace diesel fuel for electric generation.

There is no evidence for further development of the pipeline after it was proposed, so it is presumed to have been shelved in 2010 and cancelled in 2012.
