Background

When constructed, the plant was a coal-fired captive cogeneration power plant mainly for Indorama's internal use at its main production site.[2]

In October 2021, PT PLN (Persero) acquired both units of the power station through the government's Progressive Captive Power Acquisition Tariff Incentive. PLN's Director of Commerce and Customer Management stated: "through this collaboration, PLN can fulfill its obligation to provide reliable electricity without stopping so that PT Indorama Polychem and PT Indorama Synthetics can focus on more productive businesses".[3]
