Background

Putian LNG Terminal is a proposed LNG terminal in Fujian, China.

The Putian LNG terminal is still in the project phase and expected to include two stages of construction completing in 2020 with a receiving capacity of 5-6 mpta. A marine environmental impact assessment report hearing was held In December of 2016, with support of the project to move forward.

The Project was listed into National Natural Gas Development 13th Five-Year-Plan.

The provincial government of Ningxia Autonomous Region where Hanas Group is based was seeking cooperation with Fujian government on this project.

The project received permit for construction from the provincial authority in December 2021. According to the permit document, the project will have two storage tanks with 200,000 cubic meters each. The receiving capacity is 5.65 mpta and the total investment is 5.26 billion yuan ($780 million).

Phase 1 planned to start construction in May 2023, with an expected commissioning three years later. The combined receiving capacity for both phases is 10 mtpa.

In October 2023, a news report indicates the actual construction will start "next year", in 2024.
