Background on Mine

Rampia coal mine is a proposal of Rampia Coal Mine and Energy Private Limited, a joint venture of five companies: Lanco Group, Sterlite Energy (a subsidiary of British company Vedanta Resources), GMR Group, Reliance Group, and Navabharat Power (a subsidiary of the Essar Group).[2] Arcelor-Mittal was formerly a member of the joint venture, but has since exited it.[3]
