Background

Ravenna FSRU is a 5 bcm/y (3.675 mtpa) floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) proposed offshore Ravenna, Italy. The sponsor Snam reportedly paid BW LNG US$400 million to lease its BW Singapore vessel, which is under charter with Egypt's EGAS until 2023.[5][1] Preparatory work is expected to last two years, with the terminal coming online in the fourth quarter of 2024.[1]

In November 2022, Italy's Emilia Romagna region approved the project. The project only took four months to receive clearance, after its proposal in July 2022, compared to years for similar projects in the past.[1]

Ravenna FSRU is among European countries' ongoing efforts to address the European gas crisis.[1]

As of June 2024, the annual GIIGNL report said that "onshore and offshore works on the...LNG terminal are expected to be completed by the end of 2024."[7]

In July 2024, Snam said that the terminal was expected to be online by March 2025.[4] An article from Europétrole said that the project was currently under construction, with 90% and 50% of the onshore and offshore facilities completed, respectively.[2]
