Background
In 2017, Bulgartransgaz launched an environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for a pipeline to supply Razlog and Bansko with gas. Two routes were proposed, one that is 34 km and another that is 39 km.[3]
According to the Bulgartransgaz 2021-2030 Ten Year Network Development Plan, "The project is funded by a grant under Kozloduy International Decommissioning Fund to the amount of EUR 195.5 thousand. Co-funding by Bulgartransgaz EAD is to the amount of EUR 14.767 million."[2]
As of March 2021, Bulgartransgaz lists the pipeline as one of its "Projects in progress." The "planned deadline for completion of the project" is 2023.[2]
Bulgartransgaz's 2022-2031 TYNDP states that the project is expected to start construction in 2022-23, with an expected commissioning date between 2024 and 2025.[4]
