The Redivider Miami-Dade County facility is a proposed 10 MW bitcoin mining operation planned in Homestead, Florida, USA.
Location
The map below shows the approximate location of the Redivider Miami-Dade County facility in Homestead, Florida, USA. The facility would be located on lands belonging to the Homestead-Miami Speedway, but the exact location of the proposal is unknown.
Background
The project would be a joint venture between Esperanza Opportunity Fund and Redivider, and would take advantage of Opportunity Zones to achieve tax incentives for citing mining operations in qualifying low income areas.[1] It would be located at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, potentially as part of a complex proposed to be called the Homestead Miami Blockchain Technology Park. The development status of the proposal is unclear as of July 2022. Using Opportunity Zones to incentive cryptocurrency mining is highly controversial, as the jobs created as a function of energy use are extremely minimal compared to other industries.[2]
