Rewas Port, also known as Revas Port, is a proposed new port south of Mumbai on the coast of Maharashtra state, India. Originally permitted in 2002, the port failed to make any progress. In 2017, the project was taken over by the Indian government. There have been no updates since the government's takeover, and the project appears to be shelved.

Background
In 2002, Reliance Logistics & Ports Pvt Ltd (the logistics unit of Reliance Industries Ltd) was awarded the right to develop an operate an all-weather, deep draft port project at Rewas, approximately 15km south of the Port of Mumbai and 10km south of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). The first phase of the new port was to include 9 cargo-handling berths with a capacity to handle 66 million tons (mt) of cargo a year. The port was to start operations on a 50-year contract beginning October 2010. An agreement to develop and operate the port was signed in 2002, with Reliance Industries Ltd, Amma Lines Ltd, and Jai Corp. Ltd holding stakes of 55%, 24% and 10% respectively, and with the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) holding the remaining 11%.[1]
Interest in the Rewas Port hss recently been revived by plans to clean up Mumbai Port Trust's Port of Mumbai and JNPT's Nhava Sheva Port by moving "dirty" cargo such as thermal coal and coke offshore. As coal handling is discontinued at these existing ports, the construction of a new large-capacity coal port is seen as critical in keeping India's coal-fired thermal power plants operational.[2][3]
The proposed Rewas port would be built on inter-tidal and government land south of Mumbai, in three phases. Phase one calls for construction of 9 berths with a combined cargo handling capacity of 66 million tons per annum. Phases two and three would add 16 and 45 new berths, respectively, eventually bringing total cargo handling capacity up to 457 million tonnes per annum. The port's depth in phase one would be 14.5 metres, increasing to 16 metres in phase two and 20 metres in phase three.[1]
In 2017, India's government-run JNPT took control of the project from Reliance Logistics & Ports Pvt Ltd, citing that company's failure to follow through on the agreement it signed in 2002 to develop and operate the port.[1]
In 2018, Reliance Logistics & Ports, which held a 55% stake of Rewas-Aware Port, had moved an application to get a preliminary meeting for the port project. However, during the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MBB)'s board meeting in April 2019, MMB rejected the request. A final decision by the Maharashtra Government is still awaited.[4]
There have been no updates since the government's takeover, and the project appears to be shelved. A March 2021 news article on upcoming port projects in India states that "no further updates are available".[5]
