Background
The Rirhandzu coal mine is owned by Mbuyelo Group and is located in Delmas, 8 kilometers away from Kendal Power Station, in Mpumalanga, South Africa.[3][4]
It is unclear whether or not the mine is still operating as its life of mine expired in 2021. However, as indicated on the Mbuyelo website, it appears to be in rehabilitation/closed.[3] Rirhandzu Colliery is mined through truck-and-shovel and concurrent rehabilitation methods.[4]
The mine, which had an estimated life of mine of 8 years, was mined by Mbuyelo Mining Contractors for 5 years.[4] Per the website, it is now believed to be in rehabilitation.[3]
