Background
The project was proposed as an additional floating terminal to complement the onshore Rovuma LNG Terminal, which would help circumvent political risks that competitor ExxonMobil experienced building the Mozambique LNG Terminal.
As of August 2023, it was unclear whether Eni's Coral North FLNG Terminal project would address the proposal, or whether Rovuma FLNG Terminal would continue development independently.
As of July 2024, there have been no project updates in over two years, and the project is presumed to be shelved.
