Background
Rukwa Coal Mine is a small opencast coal mine, owned and operated by Endenville Energy, in western Tanzania, Africa.[3] The mine is a part of the Rukwa Coal to Power Project and will feed the proposed 120MW Rukwa coal-fired plant. The Rukwa mine is a brownfield mine owned and operated by Edenville Energy. While the mine's production rate is roughly 4,000 tonnes per month, Edenville plans to ramp up production to 10,000 tonnes per month in the near future.[3]
The mine supplies coal to East Africa industries and will feed the Rukwa power station once it comes online.[4] (As of April 2023, plans for the Rukwa coal power station are still in place, but appear to be shelved.)
