The Swedish steel company SSAB aims to be the first producer of fossil-free steel in the world by using a 100% renewables-based hydrogen-DRI-EAF production process.[1]
Partnered with the European energy company Vattenfall, SSAB operates the novel HYBRIT project, which aims to bring net-zero steel to the global market beginning in 2026.[1] SSAB also aims to be net-zero by 2045.[1]
