Background
The Sampyo Cement Samcheok Plant, was established in 1957 as Tongyang Cement, the plant has evolved over the decades and was rebranded as Sampyo Cement in 2017.[1]
The Samcheok Plant boasts an annual production capacity of approximately 11 million tonnes per annum of cement. It is equipped with seven fully automated New Suspension Preheater (NSP) kilns and mills capable of producing 560 tonnes of clinker per hour.[2]
Sampyo Cement replaced bunker C oil with bituminous coal as kiln fuel, contributing to significant energy savings.[3]
The Samcheok Plant has implemented measures to enhance environmental sustainability, including the establishment of a large recycling resource warehouse to manage and utilize waste materials effectively.[4]
