Background

In October 2020, project developer Energas — previously known as CESPM (Compañía de Electricidad de San Pedro de Macorís) — commissioned three 100 MW combined cycle units at the San Pedro de Macorís power station.[9][10]

In April 2024 the Dominican government approved the development of a new 130 MW combined cycle unit at the plant, under the name Energas IV.[11][12]

Ownership

The private equity firm Carlyle Group acquired San Pedro de Macorís power station in June of 2013[13], and as of 2022 still owns it . More information about this deal can be found on GEM's "Carlyle's Private Equity Investments" Wiki page.
