Background
Santa Bárbara Coal Mine (also known as Mina Santa Bárbara) is a 0.04-million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) coal mine in the state of Coahuila, Mexico.[4][5][6] The Santa Bárbara mine regularly ranks as one of Mexico's top five coal producers[5][6], although it is much smaller than the country's three leading coal mines, Micare, Mimosa and Progreso, which annually produce more than 1 million tonnes each. Coal production at the Santa Bárbara mine was estimated to be 42,600 tonnes in 2021[5] and 35,000 tonnes in 2020.[6]
